First trip 🎣
Sidorovka river, Kola Peninsula.
In July 2017 I stepped into a river for the first time with a camera. I was a complete novice. I didn’t understand the fishing terminology and had no idea how to approach the river. I’m photographer and a former advertising creative. I photograph people, brands, and campaigns. I’m not a traditional nature photographer, but when a human becomes part of the landscape, that is where I feel most at home.
Work, scuba diving, and travel have taken me around the world. Somewhere along the way I mentioned to a friend that one day I would love to join a fishing trip and document the moments and stories that come with it.
Unexpectedly, that opportunity came in July 2017.
Patagonia provided me with waders and boots. I even left the wader belt at home because thought the suspenders would be enough. On the first day my friend literally guided me across the river.
My friend’s patience and my passion for photography carried me through. Some of the photos were later used by Patagonia, and one ended up on the wall of the Patagonia flagship store in New York. On this account I share moments from fishing trips around the world.
